06/07 - Hareclive School
Hareclive School; 'Room 13' Arts Facility; this challenging 'inside-out' timber frame building has recently won a 2007 RIBA Award and forms part of a nationwide initiative where resident artists work alongside school children and community groups. The architect was Mitchell Taylor Workshop.
Work produced by the children using this facility can be seen at The Architecture Centre on Narrow Quay during December.

09/06 - Moonshine, Piers Taylor's House.
This beautiful private house for architect Piers Taylor was shortlisted for the 2006 RIBA Awards as well as the 2005 Wood Awards for Best Building and Best Use of British Timber. The structure comprises a contemporary green oak frame with simple stainless steel bolted connections forming an extension to an 18th Century castellated stone building, a former schoolhouse.

07/06 - IStructE Structural Awards for the Sure Start Bridge
Structures One were shortlisted for the IStructE Structural Awards 2006 for the Sure Start Bridge project in Alcombe. These awards are described by the institution as 'the pre-eminent awards for structural engineering , recognising and rewarding the works of the world 's most talented designers' .
Working with John Packer ( a local artist) and DKArchitects we designed a novel, cranked bowstring, truss-form bridge a truly functional piece of public art, which can be enjoyed by all.

03/07 - Gloucester Office Opens
David Berry leads the new Gloucester office, based in this beautifully restored former hospital building. The office establishes a stronger link locally (with a number of local projects in Stroud, Hereford and Malvern) as well as opening up new opportunities in the Midlands and South Wales.

08/07 - Creative Re-Use
The creative re-use of existing buildings is central to our sustainability philosophy and we have recently been appointed on a number of exciting live/work and commercial schemes including;
1. Yatesbury Airfield; the re-use of a WW2 aircraft hanger with inserted timber pod accommodation also incorporates an internal street to provide a highly sustainable re-use in a sensitive rural location. The Architects are Mitchell Taylor Workshop working for developer Spaceworks Ltd. Project Value = £7.5m.
2. Morlands Enterprise Park; located on the former Morlands sheepskin factory the remaining four original buildings are due to be converted into business starter units with developer Urban Splash and Gillespie Yunnie Architects. Project Value = £10m.
3. Robinson building, Bedminster; two new floors are being added to this former paper bag factory during its conversion into 90 new apartments with semi-basement parking and a new entrance via the commercial centre in East Street. The developer is Voramex/Urbis and Architect O’Leary Goss. Project Value = £8m.
4. Bristol Bridge House; currently empty this early 1980’s office block is long due an upgrade. Working closely with DKArchitects we have recently been appointed by Terrace Hill Group to add an additional floor and 30% additional area on each of the existing five floors. This complex structural refurbishment also includes the moving of all three stability cores to new locations to maximise lettable areas. Project Value Circa £7m.

10/07 - Staff visit to Barcelona
This year Structures One organised a staff trip to Barcelona in place of its usual summer party. Trips to architectural works of Antoni Gaudí and Lluís Domènech i Montanerfor were arranged, with much exemplary structural engineering to be pondered over, as well as plenty of food, drink and laughter over a long weekend.
Highlight of the visit proved to be a private guided tour of Torre Agbar.

11/07 - IStructE Awards 2007
Structures One were shortlisted in the IStructE Structural Awards 2007 for the Health and Fitness Centre at Bridgwater College. Designed by Jerry King and Mark Seberry with DKArchitects, participants from both companies attended the presentation dinner in London along with Nick Skyrme, Head of Management Services at Bridgwater College.
