Building the practice
Motivation from the process
Time and energy saved through an efficient process makes more
available to be spent on design, with added value to the project.
Collaboration within the
project design team is motivating. Much of our new work
comes from team members with whom successful collaboration
has been achieved.
The culture of Structures One encourages everyone, in
his or her own way, to contribute to the challenge through
a best practice approach to design and management.
Motivation by design
There are many opportunities for Structures One to add value
to a project through good engineering design. Finding time to
think a little harder, to develop ideas and to put in extra
effort is often all that is needed to make the difference between
a mediocre and a special design.
“Innovation” is about solving an old
problem in a “new” way, a quality which
is often quite legible in buildings but is best expressed
in bridges. Our competition winning entry, with Springboard
Design, for improvements to Battersea Park would have
included a 90m span footbridge across the Thames,
but LB of Wandsworth were unsuccessful in their bid
for the Millennium funding.
